LOS ANGELES, Ca. – A welcome to the W moment forward Rickea Jackson has joined legendary company as the fourth-player to score 400-plus points in her first season with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Jackson reached the milestone on her 10th consecutive game scoring in double figures Sunday’s 80-62 loss against the Atlanta Dream at Crypot.com Arena.

She’s the first rookie since 1997 (the WNBA’s inaugural year) to average these stats over any 5-game stretch. 

Despite the loss, Jackson played 35+ minutes and finished with 13 on 5-for-16 shooting, 4 rebounds and 3 assists for the Sparks. She also became the first rookie in WNBA history to score 25 points, make six 3-pointers, and collect 3 blocks. 

Li Yueru had 14 on 4-for-7 shooting and 3 rebounds to lead Los Angeles.

The Dream came into So Cal trying to snap its eight-game losing skid. Tina Charles had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Rhyne Howard scored 19 to get the victory and pull into a tie with the Chicago Sky for the final WNBA playoff spot.

Charles and Howard combined for 32 points and 10 rebounds by halftime and Atlanta led with the margin of the game with 27. 

At halftime the score was 46-30. Sparks would pick the pace in the fourth quarter going on a 10-4 run with Rae Burrell scoring 5 points and Kia Nurse drilled a 3-pointer. Sparks shed the gap trailing 68-55, however could not make the comeback.

Los Angeles will return to SoCal for its final three home games of the regular season. Sparks host a two-game slate vs. Connecticut Sun on Sunday, Sept 8 and Sept 10. Followed by Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday, Sept 17th.
